Our Classic Winnie the Pooh Nursery

October 4, 2022

Building a nursery is one of the many exciting things you do in preparation for your baby’s arrival. There is just something so special and magical about preparing a room for your future child, and I think I can speak for most when I say it quickly becomes your favorite room in the house.

For our nursery, I knew that I wanted something simple yet beautiful, timeless, and gender neutral. Scrolling through nursery inspiration pictures online, there were so many options that it was hard to choose! After sharing a few ideas with Kevin, we settled on a Winnie the Pooh theme. This theme checked all the boxes I was looking for, and it was extra special because I had a Winnie the Pooh nursery when I was born!

Kevin and I started putting together our nursery around 4 months pregnant. I am glad we started when we did because between the construction, adding things to our baby registry, waiting for things to ship, and putting all the furniture together, it took us the majority of my remaining pregnancy to complete the room.

I would like to give a huge shout out to my husband Kevin for spending hours working in this room to give me the nursery of my dreams! I’d also like to thank my mom and dad for helping with the paint and crown molding. I had big aspirations for this room and it turned out even better than I had imagined!

Rocking Chair/Glider

I knew I wanted something comfy and cozy for rocking and feeding baby so we picked a plush rocking chair that also reclined and has a foot rest. This chair was a game changer for late night feedings! Baby boy and I still rock on it to read books at bed time!

Dresser/ Changing Table

I went with a dresser instead of a classic changing table so I would have more storage area. This dresser is perfect with 3 drawers and a cabinet area with shelves. We filled the shelves with books, but you could absolutely use it for storage/ baby products. The Piglet night light on the dresser is a vintage piece from my baby nursery!

Crib & Mattress

The crib you pick out for your nursery is typically the centerpiece of the room. Our crib may look simple, but it is the safest space for our baby and lots of research went in to it. First, our crib is Greenguard Gold Certified which means this crib meets the most stringent chemical emissions standards to create a healthier home for your baby. Tested for more than 10,000 chemicals and VOCs, this crib is certified to contribute to cleaner indoor air.

Inside of the crib we selected the Newton Breathable Mattress. Newton Mattresses are 100% Breathable and proven to reduce suffocation risk, washable, and also Greenguard Gold Certified.

Paint and Wallpaper

I loved picking out what we were going to put on the walls! First, I decided that I wanted to do a wallpaper. I decided on the cutest white and yellow striped wallpaper! We used 3 rolls for the one wall and had it professionally installed. The paint we found that best matched the wallpaper was Behr Candlewick yellow!

Thank you Kristin Ray Photography for all of these beautiful photos!
